"Ask Sarah" Wedding Etiquette and Advice
So you're getting married and you probably have questions. I have answers! Hi, I'm Sarah - a woman who is passionate about weddings.Ask Sarah Question: Hey "Ask Sarah", I have a question about giving gifts to my bridesmaids. Is that always expected? I don't have any good ideas. Thanks
Sarah: Bridesmaid gifts and bridal party gifts is something you might not be aware of, but is important to remember. Your leading ladies will be sacrificing time, money, and some of their sanity (LOL) to help you plan your special day. This isn’t the only time you can thank them for their help, but is an opportunity to show them, in a gift, of how much you appreciate them. Now I would suggest planning for this expense at the beginning of the wedding and building it into your budget. Often times when it comes to the time to give these gifts away (at the Rehearsal Dinner) you are flat broke almost. So be pro-active on this one. There is a lot of room for creativity on these gifts. You can go to many extremes. I have heard of brides getting each girl a Tiffany’s bracelet (who wouldn’t love that), perfume, personalized gifts, jewelry boxes, etc... The first wedding I was in, my best friend bought each girl a perfume that she thought they would like, a Coach key ring, jewelry, and put it in a box with a photo of her and each girl on top of it. It was custom tailored to each lady, and was really special. Another one of my best friends bought each of us a manicure set with the French Manicure nail-polish to go with it, perfume and an engraved jewelry box (gorgeous). That should start to get your creative juices flowing on how best to thank your wedding party. Remember again of how much they’ve done for you and you will undoubtedly come up with something that will certainly relay your gratitude.
